2nd Semester Week 7: 03/20 - 03/27

This week motor team discovered an issue with the motor we had purchased. The BLDC hub motor with a gearbox has made the motor unidirectional. Therefore, the motor can only move in one direction. This is not a huge issue with where SPARTAN Superway is headed. We are still on track to have a working demonstration. Worst case scenario, we will have our current design move the bogie forward and up to 2 mph. We will then cut the power to the motors, have emergency braking engage to slow our system to a stop. After the system has come to a stop, we will have to reset the emergency braking system, manually push the system back to the starting position for another demonstration to occur. Our team spoke with Dr. Furman to confirm whether it is mandatory to have the system reverse on its own. He replied that it would be nice, so we held an emergency meeting with all other full-scale to discuss our issue and proposed different solutions for all teams to vote on the best solution possible. The tasks that the team worked on this week include the following: - Purchasing the Julet connector for the controls team - Create revision A for the motor's casing/wheel The revision A for the motor's casing/wheel can be seen below:

2nd Semester Week 6: 03/013 - 03/020

For week 6, there was a continuation of the first presentation for those teams who have not finished presenting. The presentation took almost half of the class time, so the team discussed a few things to stay on track with each other. First of all, the team received the Juliet adaptor pin for our controller, and we gave it to the controls team so that they can start working on the controller as soon as possible. Other than that, we also worked on the shaft that we are trying to fix so that we can send the drawing to Central Shop for manufacture. Last but not least, we talked about future plans such as testing out the motor and setting up deadlines on when we need to finish manufacturing and assembling the case, shaft, and motor together for Makers Faire.

2nd Semester Week 4: 02/27 - 03/06

This week - Had two group meeting to complete all of Eric's to-do list for Superway as a whole. We also meet to start and complete our senior project presentation. - Had 3D printed a motor casing for fitment testing - Made changes to original CAD drawing and sent updates to Central Shop for manufacturing. - Made changes to shaft design due to a change with Guideway Team

2nd Semester Week 2: 02/13-02/20

For our second week of Spartan Superway, the motor team primarily focus on the manufacturing of the hub motor's wheel. In addition to the manufacturing of the wheel, we have also asked the central shop to 3d print a full-scale model of the wheel to test fit onto our motor. In addition to the motor, we are working on the axle that will be connecting the two motors/wheels to the drive bogie. In order to finalize the axle design, we are in communication with both guideway and bogie interaction team to make sure everything will fit. Once sizes and dimensions are finalized, we will be running a stress analysis and creating a drawing for manufacturing. The third task that we are working on is finding a way to integrate the controller to the motor. Our motor has a 9 pin Julet connector, while the controller uses Molex connectors. In order to avoid tampering with the motor's Julet connector, we are in contact with Julet to see if there are wiring adapters available for the controller
